OREANDA-NEWS. December 9, 2008. Dmitry Medvedev, President of the RF, participated in the 16th meeting of the leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum and discussed with his partners promotion of production of the Russian automobile industry on the markets of Latin America.

More than 20 thousand KAMAZ vehicles were delivered to the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean countries for 30 years. The leader of the Russian truck industry has sharply become more active in its contacts with the representatives of the countries of the region in recent years.

A construction project for a KAMAZ vehicle assembly plant in Venezuela is being discussed. According to experts, this country needs 8 thousand trucks. By the way, two trade and service centers which were opened by the company-distributor work successfully in Venezuela.

203 KAMAZ vehicles were delivered to Cuba within the frames of the granted Russian credit in 2008. For further development of the Cuban car business and getting to the market of Cuba KAMAZ jointly with the Cuban party considers the possibility of creation of a trade and service company for sales, service, light repair and complete overhaul of KAMAZ vehicles, and also – of an assembly enterprise with production capacity of 500 vehicles per year. When Igor Sechin, Vice-Premier of the Russian Government, visited Cuba an agreement about creation of a KAMAZ repair center on the island was signed.

The position of Russia which repeatedly confirmed its interest in strong Latin America able to become one of the centers of the multipolar world meets the strategic interests of the countries of the region. Under these conditions the role and significance of KAMAZ can considerably increase here.
