OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2008. In January-November 2008, the port of Nakhodka handled 14.066.2 million tonnes of cargo (+17%, year-on-year). In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 8.133.5 million tonnes (+22.8%, year-on-year) including 2.072.5 million tonnes of bulk and loose dry cargo (up 6.4 times, year-on-year).
Transshipment of ore grew by 22% to 314,600 tonnes, coal – up 24.2 times to 1.611.7 million tonnes, timber – down 2.7 times to 806,900 tonnes including 524,500 tonnes of round timber (down 3.4 times) and 282,400 tonnes of sawn timber (-28.5%). In the 11-month period, transshipment of general cargo amounted to 5.061.1 million tonnes (+29.8%) including 3.991.8 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+24.5%), 246,900 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+60.5%), 144,200 tonnes of scrap metal (+0.9%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo totaled 39,500 tonnes (-41.3%), packaged cargo - 397,300 tonnes (up 34.1%), containerized cargo – 43,525 TEU (+51.3%), oil products 5.392.7 million tonnes (+10%).

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
