OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2008. In mid Dec 2008 Atomstroyexport CJSC, in consortium with INTER RAO UES OJSC and Ciner Group (Turkey), provided TAEK with additional information concerning the construction of the NPP, particularly, the parameters and deadlines.

Now, the tender committee will consider the third package with financial offer.

Initially, over 10 foreign and Turkish companies showed interest in the project. For the moment, Atomstroyexport is the only participant.

According to the Turkish legislation, it is for the government to make the final decision on the tender.

The Turkish authorities are planning to build their first nuclear power plant on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. By 2016 they are planning to build three NPPs. Experts say that Turkey will have to spend USD 7bln-8bln on these projects. The total capacity of the Turkish NPPs will be 5,000MW. The plants will operate heavy water reactors.
