OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2008.   President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ordered the Council of Ministers and the relevant governmental bodies to conduct balanced economic policy towards businessmen avoiding social complications and political rush, Belarusian Head of State said at a session highlighting the issues of business regulation.

“Blaming the global financial crisis the government suggests postponing adoption of amendments to the business activity. The crisis, of course, should be taken into account. In this situation it is again obvious that neither businessmen nor the government are ready to settle the long-standing problem in a civilized way,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

Alexander Lukashenko reminded the participants of the session that over three and a half years have passed after the decree on business regulation measures was adopted. According to the Belarusian Head of State, almost nothing has been made over the period to create optimal working conditions for the economic agents. The major goal – wholesale warehouses in every oblast for centralized imports of goods – was not accomplished. The system of customs clearance and other numerous procedures remain to be complicated and wasteful.

“Everything has been let take its course. The government believes the problem will be settled by itself. Instead of working systematically, we are again trailing behind and make ourselves return to the problems that should be addressed at the governmental level,” the President said.
