OREANDA-NEWS. On December 22, 2008 The forum of business circles of Uzbekistan and Turkey was held in Tashkent. The event was organized by the Ministry of foreign economic relations, investments and trade of Uzbekistan and the Foreign trade ministry of Turkey, reported the Official website www.gov.uz.

First deputy foreign minister of trade of Turkey Ulker Guzel participated in the forum, which covered areas like trade, banking and finance, construction, machinery, agriculture, food, chemical, light and textile industries, transport and communications, services, tourism, etc.

The Uzbek-Turkish cooperation has been steadily developing in various areas. In January-October 2008, the volume of trade turnover between the two states increased by 7.6% year-on-year.

Almost 600 joint ventures created with Turkish investments currently function in Uzbekistan, as well as nearly 100 representative offices of Turkish companies. They operate in the sectors of trade, chemical, food, construction, textile and other industries.

The Turkish businessmen delegation also visited a number of ministries and departments of Uzbekistan to hold talks on expansion of cooperation.
