OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2008. VivaCell-MTS today announces the competition of renovation works and the official opening of Garni Art School, including the inauguration of the new heating system. For the realization of this initiative VivaCell-MTS made AMD 35 mln of social investment.

Children of Garni and neighboring villages attend the Art School of Garni, the only educational institution in the neighborhood. Some of the talented pupils from this art school have participated in various performing arts exhibitions and glorified the name of their school. However, till recently the school was in a very bad condition, since it has not seen any renovation from the day when it was founded.

VivaCell-MTS’ social responsibility act marked a new beginning for the Arts School - it enjoys a new breath as very comfortable conditions were created for the pupils of the school who can study in their favorite institution in warm and comfortable conditions even during wintertime.

Thanks to the significant support from the Company all the windows and doors were changed, local heating system was installed, a boiler-house was built, stairwells, rooftop, the ground floor of the building were renovated, as well as internal and external redecoration was carried out. The garret was completely rebuilt, which gives opportunity to have classes here also. Soon, some new hobby groups will be added to the acting four, because it not only expanded to its previous capacity but also some additional educational programs will be available.

“Who will be our future artists? – It’s the critical question we must ask ourselves as a corporate citizen. What would we do without art? - The next question can’t be easily answered either. But one thing we wouldn’t have without art is our national identity. We wouldn’t be the nation who gave birth to Ayvazovski, Mardiros Saryan and Minas, Arshil Gorky and Garzu, Hakob Hakobyan and Vardges Surenyants and many other world-known artists. It is the past that necessitates thinking about the future. And therefore, everyone should think about creating appropriate conditions for children to engage in painting and other arts. This is the only way to avoid a scarcity of talent and spiritual hunger tomorrow”, noted VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian at the ceremony of opening.
