OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2009. By his Decree, President Alexander Lukashenko has approved the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2008-2017, which was signed in Minsk on 19 June 2008, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.

In accordance with the Agreement, its parties will be implementing the 2008-2017 Belarus-Uzbekistan economic cooperation programme which sets out the goals, objectives and main areas of economic cooperation and trade relationship between Belarus and Uzbekistan. The programme also envisages cooperation between the two countries in preventing and responding to natural and man-made emergency situations.

The approval of the Agreement will help intensify the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, enable the sides to implement a set of coordinated measures of government support to cement economic, scientific, technological and other ties, and identify the priorities and main areas of bilateral cooperation on a long-term basis.
