OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 January 2008 was announced, that Domodedovo traditionally welcomed Russian spotters – professional aviation photographers and enthusiasts. Domodedovo was the first amongst Moscow airports to support the annual tradition of taking photos of aircraft during take-off and landing at a close, yet quite safe distance. Thus, aviation photographers were given the opportunity to participate in regular spotting events and see the busy airport life from the inside.

Despite the chilly weather over 35 photographers could not let go of their cameras for over 4 hours. When their spotting time was over each and every one personally thanked the organizers for such a breathtaking Christmas experience. Our airport representative wished them all the best and presented memorable gifts from Domodedovo.

Aviation spotting is a hobby that involves taking photos of flying vehicles, mainly aircraft. Photographers are usually referred to as spotters. The essence of spotting is to photograph an aircraft at a close distance and from the most “advantageous”, attractive angle.

Organizing such events, Domodedovo International Airport provides continuity to the long-going tradition of the amateur aircraft photography. All events are organized in the framework of Airport City concept developed to create maximum comfortable conditions for passengers and airport visitors. It is envisaged that the airport will become a grand venue for various exhibitions, shopping and entertainment centers and other amenities.
