OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2009. Director General of Energoatom Concern OJSC Sergey Obozov appointed Vladimir Povarov, the first deputy director of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant, as Acting Deputy Director General of Energoatom Concern-Director of Novovoronezh NPP.

Povarov will act as Director of Novovoronezh NPP until his candidacy for this office is approved.

Povarov Vladimir Petrovich was born in 1957. In 1980 he graduated from Thermal Physics Department of Moscow Power Engineering Institute. He is Candidate of Technical Sciences.

In 1980–1986 Povarov was engineer, junior researcher of Research Institute of Nuclear Reactors (Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region). In 1986–20087 he worked at Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant (branch of Rosenergoatom Concern (presently Energoatom Concern)) as senior engineer, head of the nuclear physics laboratory, head of the nuclear safety department, deputy chief engineer for safety.

Povarov has been granted certificates of the Ministry of Atomic Energy of Russia and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Nuclear Workers, medal of the Order for Services to Fatherland, 2nd class, silver medal of Energoatom Concern for contribution to the safety of nuclear power plants, letter of gratitude of the head of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy Sergey Kiriyenko (presently, Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation). Povarov is laureate of the Best Achievements in Nuclear Power Engineering contest.
