OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2009. Russian TV Channel One showed a video about Russian GLONASS global navigation system.

This unique system helps finding any object starting from a missing dog to a human in any point of the Earth. This is the first system of this kind in Russia. GLONASS combined with GPS provides the opportunity to track trains, airplanes, municipal transport. Mobile communication links are used to transmit these data to a dispatcher center.

The data are visible due to special terminal which displays location of any object, its speed and direction. In 2008, Russian company M2M Telematica began mass serial production of the user equipment, M2M-Cyber GLX, which applies signals coming from the two systems: Russian GLONASS and US GPS.

Tracking dog collar became one of the most outstanding achievements of M2M Telematica in 2008. This is the first portable GLONASS/GPS pet-tracking device in the world. Channel One demonstrated operations of the dog collar as well.
