OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2009. Belarus is ready to tackle a wide range of issues together with European partners, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he received credentials from foreign ambassadors.

“The participation of Belarus is essential to provide an efficient and comprehensive response to present-day challenges Europe is facing, including environmental pollution, energy security, development of transport, transit and customs infrastructure, illegal migration, international terrorism and transboundary crimes,” the Belarusian leader underlined.

According to him, Belarus makes a considerable contribution to maintaining security and stability in Europe due to its sustained socio-economic development and public unity, balanced and peaceful foreign policy.

“The abovementioned tasks are only some of the objectives we have to achieve together with our European partners,” Alexander Lukashenko added.

The President underlined that during the global crisis and reassessment of the world order, the solution, as the Belarusians see it, is in the concerted action of the international community based on such universal human values as good neighborliness, understanding, tolerance and respect to moral and cultural values of all nations. “This difficult time brings the constructive potential of diplomacy to the forefront,” the Head of State is convinced.

Alexander Lukashenko pointed out the independent way Belarus is following. This way has already demonstrated its efficiency and viability. “The historic experience of Belarus shows that the country benefits greatly from the comprehensive cooperation between east and west. After all, Belarus is like a bridge between them, a strategically important link for the successful development of good neighborliness,” the President said.
