OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2009. A contest of creative essays and writings “Entrepreneurship and Career” among students of secondary schools of the Salym village and the Sentyabrsky village was launched in October 2008, reported the press-centre of Salym Petroleum Development N.V.

The Contest was organized and conducted together with The Fund of Yugra business support and Salym Petroleum Development N.V. The primary goals and tasks included development and support of creative activities of young people; contribution to promotion of small and medium businesses in KHMAO; propaganda of achievements, role and importance of economic players in the social and economic development of KHMAO territories; formation and consolidation of norms of business ethics and assistance to professional orientation of students and realized choice of a future profession.

74 students from 6 to 11 grades took part in the contest. All the participants received incentive gifts. Winners in each nomination were rewarded with diplomas and valuable prizes. The winners in the “Fine Arts” and “Applied Arts” nominations have been invited to take part in a training devoted to the development of business and communication skills “The basis of a successful career”.

The nominees of the contest “We choose a profession” have been rewarded with the one-day internship in SPD that occurred at the end of December 2008. The students got acquainted with the production and operation facilities and the working day of a specialist. They also had a possibility to ask questions on the subjects that interested them.

One of the participants shared her impressions: “I took part in all nominations of the contest and took the first place in the “Fine Arts” nomination. As a prize I got a chance to participate in a three-day business training and a one-day internship in SPD.

Maria Pershina, Environmental Engineer, was my tutor. She prepared a presentation devoted to main environmental issues and problems. Her presentation in which she told about observations and changes of the environment in SPD was very interesting. Finally the one-day internship helped me to become sure of the right choice of profession. I’d like to thank Salym Petroleum Development for the unique opportunity to visit CPF and communicate with a specialist that I plan to be in the future.”
