OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2009.The Belarusian wallpaper makers should use an aggressive sales strategy on both the domestic and foreign markets, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said while visiting the Belorusskiye Oboi Company on January 23.

According to the Head of Government, as far as the two national wallpaper producers - Belorusskiye Oboi and Gomeloboi – are engaged in different segments of the wallpaper market, they should be mutually complementary in advancing the products to the foreign market.

Up to 2008 the two Belarusian wallpaper factories secured the economy-class wallpaper niche. The people’s growing welfare has raised the need in increasing the output of more expensive types of wallpaper that are presented on the Belarusian market by the leading foreign producers. Therefore, the Minsk and Gomel companies should expand the production and offer new types of wallpaper.

Sergei Sidorsky stressed it is necessary to develop a clear strategy for Belarusian wallpaper production and sales, implement new technologies, increase production. “Some think they should produce lesser in order to sell everything without stockpiling. Why do they think so? To be able to sell one should produce more,” the Prime Minister said. He noted that the producers should preserve their positions on the markets and advance their products to the emerging ones. Besides, more time should be given to the brand development.
