OREANDA-NEWS. January 26, 2009. According to NBM, in 2008 the volume of credit portfolio of the banks has grown. Thus, the loans amounted to 25 billion 122,6 million leis, or 20.3% more than in 2007. 58.8% of the loans were provided in leis and 41,2% - in foreign currency.

At the same time, the growth rate of loans in leis is higher than those in the foreign currency. Thus, the growth of loans in leis made 25.6% vs. 13,5% in the foreign currency. At the same time, in 2008 the volume of bank deposits has increased by 16.6% and amounted 24 billion 85.2 million leis; 58,9% of which- deposits in leis and 41,1% - in the foreign currency.

During 2008, the volume of deposits in the local currency increased by 21% and in the foreign currency - by 10.7%, respectively. At the same time, over the last four months of 2008, the volume of deposits in leis has decreased by 2.4%, while the deposits in foreign currency have increased by 5.5%.

Deposits of individuals have significantly increased as compared with the deposits of legal entities-by 21.3% and 6,1%, respectively. According to NBM, as of December 31, 2008, the level of current liquidity made 30.6%.

During the past year, it has grown by 1.5 points. At the same time, over the last four months the level of current liquidity has slightly declined - by 0.5 points. In 2008, the gross volume of share equity of the banks has increased by 26.8% and reached 7 billion, 32.1 million leis by the end of the year.
