OREANDA-NEWS. Jan 26–30 2009 a commission of Energoatom Concern OJSC, chaired by the chief expert of Personnel Management Department of the Concern Viktor Zavyalov, will visit Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant to check up the work of the plant’s. The objective of the inspection is to see if the plant is ready to apply its full-scale simulator for training the operators of its 3rd and 4th units.

The international and national requirements say that the operating personnel of a nuclear power plant should drill their skills on special simulators.

Any changes in technologies and control modes caused by modernization of reactors and process systems should be reflected in simulators. Issue of permission to operate a simulator is an obligatory procedure confirming its compliance with relevant standards and real technological processes.

The Training Center of Leningrad NPP has two full-scale simulators of the 1st-2nd and 3d-4th reactors. The simulator of the 3rd-4th reactors was launched in 1966, the simulator of the 1st-2nd reactors – in 2003.
