OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 January 2009 was announced, that at electric power and capacity trades held from January, 15 to January, 23 at Arena Power Market, generating companies of IES-Holding sold 137.25 MW of power for February delivery period.

All generating companies of IES-Holding (TGC-5, TGC-6, TGC-7 and TGC-9) participated in the trades. At that market contracts were concluded for three TGCs (territorial generating companies) (TGC-5, TGC-6 and TGC-7). Total sales volume of IES-Holding companies at the power market comprised 549 lots, including TGC-5 - 10 lots or 2.5 MW, TGC-6 - 225 lots or 63.75 MW, TGC-7 - 284 lots or 71 MW. The most of the contracts sold comprise peak load contracts.

Trading Division coordinates trades of power and capacity of IES-Holding power plants at Arena Market. According to estimations of Trading Division experts, contracts for delivery in peak load hours were in the highest demand at the trades. The share of these contracts comprised 80% of the total amount of contracts concluded at the trades. Generally, the trades for January and February period were characterized by law purchase activity. This first of all was motivated by decrease in consumption, as experts note.

Trading Division was created within the framework of introduction of new business model of IES-Holding. The model includes the following businesses - generation, trading, retail (retail sales of electricity, heat and gas) and construction of new generating facilities.

The main functions of Trading Division include management of IES-Holding generating capacities load, implementation of a single strategy of IES in the wholesale power and capacity market. Moreover Trading is in charge of fuel supply to IES's generating companies. This involves signing long-term contacts with Gazsprom and independent gas suppliers, participation in medium-term and long-term gas trading, and procurement of coal and fuel oil.
