OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 January 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ GDP deflator in 2008 amounted to 120.6% of the level registered in the same period of the previous year, the National Statistics Committee told.

This means the average level of prices for commodities and services rose 20.6% on the year.

The value added of the manufacturing sector in GDP in 2008 amounted to 28.1%. Trade and public catering follow with 10.6%, then come construction with 9.4%, agribusiness with 8.4%, transport and communication with 8%.

Construction showed the highest increase in the gross value added in the period, followed by public catering and manufacturing, 23.5%, 18.2% and 14.4%, respectively.

The gross value added of the transport and communication sector rose only 5.5%, and of agribusiness 9.5%.

Belarus’ GDP grew 10% in comparable prices to 128.8 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br).

Gross value added is obtained by deducting intermediate consumption from gross output.
