OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 January 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ farm output increased 8.9% on the year in 2008 to 26.9 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), a source in the Statistics Ministry told.

Agricultural companies and farms increased production 14%, while households’ output edged up 0.7%.

Sales of fattened cattle and poultry rose 4.6% on the year in 2008 to 1.018 million tonnes, milk output rose 9.5% to 5.142 million tonnes, and egg output went up 4.7% to 2.184 billion.

Return on sales of Belarus’ agribusiness reached 9.8% in January-November 2008, up from 6.1% in January-November 2007.

In the first eleven months of the year, farms’ net profit reached 1.8 trillion rubles, up 70% year-on-year. Net loss of 17 unprofitable farms was at 10.5 billion rubles, down from 16.5 billion rubles in January-November 2007. There were 32 loss-making farms in January-November 2007.

Overdue payables of Belarus’ agriculture were at 1.4 trillion rubles as of December 1, 2008, 18.1% of all payables. Overdue payables rose 26.4% over December 1, 2007, and exceeded overdue receivables 3.7 times.
