OREANDA-NEWS. February 5, 2009. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has commissioned one more well on its main offshore field Gunashli in Azerbaijan’s sector of Caspian Sea.

SOCAR informs that the well #76 on platform #14 has the depth of 3,500 meters. Its daily debit totals 250,000 cu m of gas and 40 tons of condensate. There is a possibility of extraction from several horizons more.

The platform #14 was put into operation in 1988 and designed for 24 wells. In 2003 it was replenished with a new block for 12 wells. Today the platform has 35 drilled wells producing 2,200 tons of oil and condensate in total and 5.5 million cu m of gas a day.

In 2008 the 28th of May Petroleum and Gas Extracting Administration (PGEA) operating the platform produced 5.282 million tons of oil (70% of the company’s overall production) and 6.5 billion cu m of gas (over 80%).
