OREANDA-NEWS. On 10 February 2009 was announced, that the key objective of the mission was the discussion of the Development Policy Operation (DPO), the broad content of the reform program, its objectives and possible outcomes, the linkages of these programs to the 2008 Strategic Development Program (SDP), as well as possibilities for the provision of technical assistance.

During the meeting the key priorities within the macroeconomic framework for 2009-2010 were discussed, as well as the crisis-related issues. Robert Taliercio, the WB’s Senior Economist underlined that the new Development Policy Operation will continue to support the developing reform programs and will help to improve the competitiveness of the country, develop tax and customs reforms, implement the reforming process in education policy, health management, enforce the conflict of interests principles, strengthen the social safety net, as well as to analyze the energy efficiency and natural resources extraction polices.

Mr. Yeritsyan expressed his point of view regarding the above mentioned topics. He emphasized that all these programs must promote the economic development of the country and help to improve the social issues.
