OREANDA-NEWS. On February 10, 2009 the representatives of SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority presented Klaipeda State Seaport Security Plan at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda State Seaport.
 
Following the Directive of European Parliament and the Council 2005/65/EU, all the EU member ports are to have Port Security plans. Taking into consideration the requirements of the Directive of European Parliament and the Council for member ports, Klaipeda Port Authority signed a Contract on 28th July 2008 with American company SAIC, having long-term knowledge in this field, concerning the preparation of Klaipeda State Seaport Security Plan.
 
The experts of this corporation executed preparatory works for preparation of Klaipeda State Seaport security Plan – investigated Risk Assessment report of 9 October 2007, made by AON Risk Consultants (as a basis for preparation Port Security Plan), together with the specialists of Port Authority visited Klaipeda port from water and land side. They also met the representatives of Coast Guard District, Customs, Port Police and Navy.

American experts, having got acquainted with the activities of Klaipeda port and collected all the necessary information, prepared Klaipeda State Seaport Security Plan. 
 
On the 10th of February 2009, Port Security Officer – Head of Port Security Service of SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority Alvydas Jocys and Head of Port Regime Department Egidijus Kuzmarskis presented this plan at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania.
 
When the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania approves Klaipeda State Seaport Security Plan and issues the Order of the Minister of Transport and Communications, Klaipeda port will have completely fulfilled the requirements of the Directive of European Parliament and the Council 2005/65/EB.
