OREANDA-NEWS. February 10, 2009. Measures to improve purposefulness of social aid have been considered during a meeting of Minister of Labour and Social Policy of Ukraine Liudmyla Denysova with a group of experts of the World Bank, led by Director of the World Bank for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Martin Raiser.

“For us it is the priority to strengthen purposeful assistance to indigent families and families with children. Besides, under conditions of the financial crisis the tasks of Government lie in ability to ensure social protection of population and maximally minimize fallouts of the global financial crunch,” Liudmyla Denysova said.

Liudmyla Denysova thanked to representatives of the World Bank for the elaborated propositions, which had been thoroughly studied by the Labour Ministry. She also informed now the documents had been prepared for considering by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with an aim to raise just purposefulness of the social aid. This would enable to provide objective analysis whether the aid proves necessary, otherwise, our task is to tighter work with most vulnerable layers of society.

Martin Raiser positively evaluated prepared by the Ministry of Labour propositions concerning strengthening of purposefulness of social assistance and stressed, it is vital to sooner introduce these wholesome solutions. He also added, Ukraine possesses a well-developed system of social protection but under the world financial instability it is hard to clearly define the categories of population, who necessitate support of the state.
