OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2009. OJSC Kaluga Turbine Works (OJSC KTZ) being a part of Power Machines has signed an agreement for the supply of equipment for OJSC Okhinskaya CHPP.

According to the terms and conditions of the agreement, OJSC KTZ shall manufacture a PT-25/30-8.8/1.0-1 turbine with the capacity of 25 MW by February 2010. KTZ’s specialists will exercise the leadership of installation, commissioning and balancing works at the power plant. The total amount of the contract is over 160 million roubles.

Okhinskaya CHPP located in the town of Okha (Sakhalin Region) is already familiar with equipment manufactured by KTZ. Three PT-25 turbines have been operated at the power plant being the biggest source of electricity and heat energy in the northern part of the island since late 1960s. At the present time the technical re-equipping and reconstruction of Okhinskaya CHPP are under way within the framework of implementation of the program for economic and social development of Far East and Transbaikalia. Two KTZ turbines, which lifetime has expired, are to be dismantled and new turbines will be installed instead of them. One PT-25 turbine was delivered by KTZ in summer of 2008 and a contract has been entered into for the supply of the second turbine.

The turbines for Okhinskaya CHPP differ from serial analogues of PT-25/30 being manufactured by OJSC KTZ by the fact that they have been structurally modified in order to provide operability of the sets in the conditions of seismicity up to 9 points inclusive according to the MSK-64 scale.
