OREANDA-NEWS  On 25 February was announced, that total capital of uzbek commercial banks will increase at least by 20% in 2009, the credits will increase by 40% and deposits of the population – by 35%.

According to the report of the central bank about the current situation in the monetary and credit sphere and the main directions of the monetary policy of Uzbekistan in 2009 the main tasks of the uzbek commercial banks is increasing their capitalization, especially  widening long term resources by issuing additional shares.

At that 4 large banks – Microcreditbank, Asakabank, Gallabank and Pakhtabanks had already issued additional shares in the amount of more than 450 bln. soums.

During 2009 the prime rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan will be 14% in order to avoid probable inflation rate.

Nowadays there are 30 commercial bank operating in Uzbekistan, including 3 state banks, 5 banks with the foreign capital, 11 joint-stock commercial banks, 11 private banks. According to the information of the CB of Uzbekistan, total capital of uzbek commercial banks had increased by 39.9% till 2,104 trln. soums during 2008, total assets – by 30,1% till 12,065 trln. soums and credit portfolio – by 34% till 6,372 trln. soums.
