OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2009. Exchanging experiences with foreign colleagues plays an important role in bringing Turkmen education in compliance with the international standards. International student exchange promoting the close friendly relations among young people of different countries is a way to maintain an active dialogue with the world’s leading educational institutions. That is vividly illustrated by the meeting of the students of D. Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages with the professors of the Senshu University, one of the oldest and the most prestige universities in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’.

The head of the Japanese delegation, Professor Satake noted that the aim of their visit to Turkmenistan was to study history and culture because they were the participants the Along the Silk Routes seminar. Within the framework of this seminar the Japanese students visited various countries including China, Syria, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

Professor Satake said that Turkmenistan was an important link of the ancient trade route connecting different peoples and countries. The Japanese guests visited the Ancient Nisa Historical and Cultural Reserve and went sightseeing to Ancient Merv. As well the guests expressed admiration of the present day Turkmenistan – a dynamically developing country. During the meeting with the Japanese specialists the teachers and students of D. Azadi Institute made presentations of the aspects of the ongoing large-scale educational reforms aimed at bringing this important sector in compliance with the world standards including the development of international co-operation.

The Japanese guest said that the opening the speciality of the Japanese language at the Institute vividly illustrated the countries’ willingness to strengthen the traditional ties of friendship and fraternity, equal and mutually beneficial partnership. “We were amazed with the Turkmen students’ progress in learning the Japanese language”, the Professor continued. “They have been studying the language for a year and now they can speak the Japanese language easily. Not only had the experienced Japanese teachers but also the students who study the Japanese language, history, art and traditions with great interest and diligence contributed to this progress.”

The Japanese guests said that upon returning home they would tell their compatriots about the amazing country and hospitable people of Turkmenistan. “We hope that our friendly relations will develop and the Turkmen students studying the Japanese language will visit our country. In the near future they could be the first teachers to teach Turkmen language to the Japanese students for the current relations between our countries vivid evidencing of that Turkmenistan and Japan become closer”.
