OREANDA-NEWS. March 3, 2009. Medical Radiology Center worth a total of 12bln RUR will be opened in Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region, in 2012, reports the press service of the Government of Ulyanovsk region. This year the project will undergo evaluation and all necessary examinations with the construction work to be started in 2010–2011.

The launch of the center is scheduled for 2012.

It will be the only medical radiology center in Russia.

The construction of the technical and social infrastructure of the center and the residential complex for its employees will financed by the Government of Ulyanovsk region.

This project is part of the long-term target program of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia “Establishment of Federal High-Tech Center for Medical radiology in 2009–2015.” The goals of the program are as follows: enhancing the rate of detection of malignant tumors by 15%-20%, reducing the recurrence rate by 5–8 timers, ensuring full recovery of prostate cancer patients, reducing the mortality rate by 25%-30%. Production of radio-medicines will help relevant medical centers to effective treat their patients.

The program envisages the construction of four medical radiology centers: in Dimitrovgrad, Tomsk, Yekaterinburg and Dubna (Moscow region).
