OREANDA-NEWS. March 4, 2009. Most of SIBUR plants have resumed production at the earlier stopped and unloaded facilities. In November-December 2008  the company was constrained to reduce the output and to suspend operation of some facilities as a result of a sharp drop in demand for some related kinds of products.

Currently the units for butyl alcohol and 2-ethylhexanol production at Sibur-Khimprom (Perm) operate at 100% capacity (earlier, at 60% capacity). The start-up of styrene section has taken place at the Plastic plant (Uzlovaya, the Tula Region).

The butyl rubber production has been reactivated at Tolyattikauchuk while Tomskneftekhim has set a four-day working schedule for production of low density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene.

Start-up of the Krasnoyarsk Synthetic Rubber Plant and copolymer rubber production at Togliattikauchuk is expected in March this year.

At the same time, however, in 2009 the company does not expect to see the fully restored demand for petrochemical products, and therefore some enterprises of the holding will operate at reduced capacities.

"We shall resume production at our plants depending on the market situation", SIBUR President Dmitry Konov said. "Our company opens new sales markets and develops marketing instruments to maintain its market position".
