OREANDA-NEWS  On 05 March was announced, that during the 3rd International Congress "Development of Pharmacoeconomics and Pharmacoepidemiology in the Russian Federation" held in Kazan, a speech on the topic "Drug Insurance Models Possible in Russia" was delivered by Ms. Larisa Popovich, First Deputy CEO/COO of OJSC ROSNO-MS.

The Congress was attended by representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Federation Council, high-ranking officials from the RF Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development, Federal Department of Supervision in Healthcare and Social Development, territorial departments of Roszdravnadzor, leading pharmacoeconomics experts from Europe and North America, senior officials and leading specialists of the regional healthcare and pharmaceutical regulators, representatives of pharmaceutical organizations, medical institutions, professional pharmaceutical associations, institutions of higher learning, pharmaceutical producers, and the industry press.

In her report, Ms. Larisa Popovich told about the situation with pharmacological support in the Russian Federation, presented the experience accumulated by other countries with regard to making pharmaceuticals more affordable to the general public, elaborated on the methods for more rational spending of state resources, and analyzed advantages and disadvantages of the three possible organizational schemes for drug insurance in Russia.

During the active discussion, the congress participants expressed a viewpoint that the quickest possible transition to drug insurance in the Russian Federation is necessary to preserve affordability of drugs to the general public in the times of crisis.
