OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2009. St.Petersburg Research and Development Institute “ATOMENERGOPROEKT” (SPbAEP OJSC), the general contractor of the construction of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2, has organized a business game “Practical Use of System of Network Scheduling for Managing Leningrad NPP-2 Project.” Departments of SPbAEP and the sub-contractors of the project took part in the game.

The objective of the two-day game was improvement and coordination of network scheduling mechanisms applied by the parties to the construction of LNPP-2 (preparing schedules and formulating weekly and daily targets) for the sake of effective management of the project. The organizers showed how to conduct onsite briefings and how to collect actual data on a daily basis with special attention given to weekly progress reports.

Each day of the game ended with a roundtable – an opportunity for the participants to express their views concerning the approaches suggested by SPbAEP. “The task set by the head of SPbAEP-Engineering Sergey Yegorov formulating the task as “Here and Now.” These two days are an opportunity for you to make your recommendations concerning the procedures and reports we have offered so as to make our work mutually useful and convenient. If you fail to do it, we will organize the work in the way we like.”

“I think that we have achieved our goals. We will be able to effectively manage the project only if we ensure effective planning of the work for the future periods. And this is impossible without the participation of our sub-contractors. Today, we have shown to them and ourselves that the development of a complex project schedule based on detailed weekly-daily targets is possible and that schedule is the most effective instrument for coordination of the activities of all parties to the project: constructors, designers, suppliers,” the head of the Complex NPP Construction Management System Service of SPbAEP Galina Schemeleva said.

“Today, SPbAEP has developed a full cycle of managerial procedures effectively coordinating surveying, construction, installation and delivery activities. The relevant procedures will be revised according to the results of the game,” Yegorov said.
