OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2009. Representatives of the US Nuclear Threat Initiative have supported the Russian initiative to set up an international nuclear service center.

During a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov in Moscow, a delegation of the US Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) supported the Russian initiative to set up an international center providing nuclear fuel cycle services as well as the initiative to form a buffer stock of low enriched uranium, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

The parties discussed questions concerning the implementation of the NTI’s program to form a buffer stock of low enriched uranium under the aegis of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The US experts expressed support for the Russian initiatives, reports the Ministry.

The American delegation was led by President of Nuclear Threat Initiative Charles Curtis and Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NTI Sam Nunn.
