OREANDA-NEWS. On March 19, 2009 President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed into action Decree No 134 ‘On Introducing Amendments and Additions to Decree No 208 of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 16 April 2002’, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.

Under the Decree, the territory of the free economic zone ‘Grodnoinvest’ is expanded by 1,141.93 ha within the boundaries defined by the Grodno Regional Executive Committee.

Expanding the zone is necessary to make investment activity there more effective, create conditions for implementing new promising projects which could help raise production, sales, quality of the goods and services produced there, as well as import-substituting products.

For ensuring further progress of the FEZ ‘Grodnoinvest’, new parcels of land with engineering infrastructure and business premises are included into it.

It is planned to expand the four land plots which comprise the free economic zone now, and include two new land plots into it.

After the territorial re-organisation, the total area of the FEZ ‘Grodnoinvest’ will be 2,187.83 ha.
