OREANDA-NEWS. March 20, 2009. Headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee Alexander Ananenkov, a Gazprom delegation visited Germany.

The Company’s delegation took part in a meeting of the Joint Working Group of Gazprom and BASF SE for the consideration of issues relating to cooperation as part of the Eastern Gas Program.

The parties discussed issues surrounding the projects of mutual interest in the East of Russia and agreed on further joint actions in the said area.      

Background:

BASF SE is one of the leading gas and petrochemical companies in the world. Its primary business lines are production of chemicals, synthetic materials and plant protection products, as well as production and transportation of hydrocarbons.

BASF SE is a partner of Gazprom in the Yuzhno-Russkoye field development and Nord Stream pipeline construction.

In September 2007 the Russian Industry and Energy Ministry approved the Development Program for an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asia-Pacific countries (Eastern Gas Program). Gazprom was appointed by the Russian Government as the Eastern Gas Program execution coordinator.
