OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2009. During a meeting the Flood Committee of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant considered the results of the inspection of the execution of the plan of action for preparing the facilities of the plant for this year’s flood.

The committee is chaired by the first deputy chief engineer for operation of Novovoronezh NPP Anatoly Fedorov.

The plan of action consists 57 measures: 51 of them have already been fulfilled: particularly, inspection and re-supply of construction materials, tools and uniforms, organization of watches and allocation of special equipment (bulldozers, excavators, dump trucks), maintenance of pumps and mobile water drainage equipment, etc..

The personnel of the plant have been instructed on what to do should the onshore water pumping station, the storm water runoff drainage systems and other facilities go under water.

The remaining measures will be conducted only in case of a significant rise in the level of Don River and after the flood.

During the flood the plant will exercise enhanced control over the levels of Don River and the cooling pond of its 5th unit as well as over the technical state of its water works. When the flood passes, the plant will inspect its water works so as to detect and remove possible damages.
