OREANDA-NEWS. April 1, 2009. Power Machines have successfully accomplished the project of participation in extension of facilities of the Balimela HPP (India).

The contracts for turnkey delivery of two hydraulic units with a power capacity of 75 MW each were concluded with the Orissa State public company of Orissa Hydro Power Corporation in 2003. The contracts’ aggregate value exceeded USD 30 mln.

For the Indian HPP two power units being constructed Power Machines performed fabrication and delivery of two hydraulic turbines equipped with pre-turbine ball gate valves, two hydraulic generators with a power capacity of 75 MW each as well as auxiliary systems, an outdoor switchgear and water conduits. The both hydraulic units having been launched, one is busy with formalization of the equipment guarantee operation initiation certificate.

Through participation in Stage 2 of the Balimela HPP construction Power Machines continued their successful development of the Indian power engineering equipment market: a year before the Company had successfully accomplished the project of participation in construction of the Teri HPP (4 hydraulic units 250 MW each) which represents the first stage of India’s largest hydropower complex. Another hydropower engineering project being implemented by Power Machines in India is modernization of three hydraulic turbines and control systems at the Loktak HPP aimed at the hydraulic units’ powerup from 35 to 40 MW. The equipment fabricated for the Loktak HPP is to be commissioned and initiated into operation in 2009.
