In 2003 Gazprom started developing a corporate standardization system based on the principles set out in the Federal Law “On Technical Regulation” dated December 27, 2002.

STO Gazprom 1.0-2005 “Gazprom Standardization System. Basic Provisions”;

In February 2006 Gazprom’s Technical Regulation Concept was adopted with a view to arrange technical regulation activities and in pursuance of the above Procedure. The Concept includes the following key directions:
technical guidelines development – establishment, application and fulfillment of mandatory requirements for products including production operation, storage, shipments (transportation), marketing and disposal (Gazprom’s experts took part in developing 20 draft technical guidelines);
standardization – setting and voluntary application of requirements for products including production, operation, storage, shipments, marketing and disposal as well as for completion of works or rendering of services (the Company carries out standardization activities at the corporate, national, regional (European) and international levels; over 380 standards and recommendations of Gazprom approved);
conformity confirmation – regulation of relations in the area of conformity assessment (in addition to the obligatory certification at the state level, the product and service conformity with Gazprom’s specific requirements is assessed in the GAZPROMCERT voluntary certification system).
