OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 April 2009 was announced, that Vnukovo-1 air terminal is to be commissioned in Moscow this year despite the global financial crisis.

“The terminal will be commissioned this year despite the crisis. It will be one of the most comfortable and convenient terminals located near the city,” Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov said.

According to the official, a president terminal of Vnukovo-1 is scheduled to be commissioned in June 2009.

“The main area [of the air terminal] is an enormous structure that has no analogue in Russia. It contains a very complicated passenger service system as well as a plant to serve the complex. The terminal can be characterized by its area that is 247,000 square metres for serving passengers,” Mr Luzhkov added.

Construction of a two-level road interchange with the length of about 2.5 kilometres is to be completed simultaneously with the end of development of the passenger terminal. The interchange will link the air terminal to Borovskoe and Kievskoe highways.

The most up-to-date technologies of covering are implemented and the newest decoration materials are used during the development. The quality of construction work is extremely high, everything is under a strict control.

A large-scale program aimed at upgrading Vnukovo complex of air terminals was launched in late 2003 when the control packet of its shares was transferred into the ownership of Moscow’s city government. Due to the reconstruction, the acceptable rate of Vnukovo is expected to reach 20 million passengers per year by 2015.
