OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 April 2009 was announced, that Governments of Belarus and Serbia had signed an agreement on free trade in Minsk.

The document was signed by Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov and Minister of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia Mladan Dinkic.

Dinkic believes the agreement will enable the two countries to increase mutual trade turnover at least five times. “The document allows duty-free exports of Belarusian goods to Serbia and of Serbian goods to Belarus, with a few exceptions,” he said.

The two countries also signed an agreement on temporary employment of Serbians in Belarus and Belarusians in Serbia.

First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko, who was present at the meeting, said the document simplified registration of Belarusians in Serbia and Serbians in Belarus.

“Belarus is interested in inviting Serbian builders, and construction organizations may approach the Interior Ministry with requests to extend registrations or register new workers,” Semashko said.
