OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2009. The Tatarstan OFAS Russia found that actions of the largest participants of the market of retail sale of oil products - "Tatneft" OJSC, "Tatneft -AZS Tsentr" OJSC (the group of persons of "Tatneft" OJSC) and "Tatneftnefteproduct Chemical Company" OJSC (the group of persons of "Tatneft" OJSC) - contravened the Law "On Protection of Competition", reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.   

Those companies already caught attention of the Antimonopoly Service in June 2008 when the Tatarstan OFAS Russia was monitored prices for oil products. OFAS Russia established that from July 2007 to June 2008 the companies had been simultaneously fixing the same prices for oil products. In this connection the Tatarstan OFAS Russia initiated a case against the companies for violating Articles 10 and 11 of the Law "On Protection of Competition" by fixing and maintaining monopolistically high prices for oil products and exercising concerted actions for fixing and maintaining prices for oil products.

Having investigated the case, the Commission of the Tatarstan OFAS Russia found that "Tatneft" OJSC, "Tatneft -AZS Tsentr" OJSC " (the group of persons of "Tatneft" OJSC) and "Tatneftnefteproduct Chemical Company" OJSC (the group of persons of "Tatneft" OJSC) violated the antimonopoly legislation.
