OREANDA-NEWS. On 15 April 2009 was announced, that at an enlarged session of the Turkmen government on 13 April, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed one of his deputy prime ministers to develop a proposal on the reorganization of Gok Gushak (Green Belt) joint stock company.

"As a matter of fact, Gok Gushak joint stock company and the ministry of nature protection deal with the same issues. That is why it would be expedient to set up a new body with relevant material and technical basis under the ministry of nature protection," the head of state said. He signed a decree approving a decision of Gok Gushak stock holders' meeting on the dissolution of the joint stock company.

The decree says that all enterprises under the administration of Gok Gushak should be transferred to the ministry of nature protection. The ministry has been also made responsible for protecting and developing the state forest fund, as well as restoring forests in the forest farms of Turkmenistan and planting trees in the desert areas.

It should be recalled that Gok Gushak joint stock company was founded in 1999. The joint stock company was given the task of coordinating the tree planting work and taking care of trees planed near Ashgabat and other settlements of Turkmenistan. The joint stock consisted of 14 forest farms and nursery forests, the Mary department of forestry, the Bikrova experimental forestry and scientific center of bioregulation.
