OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 April 2009 was announced, that COMSTAR – United TeleSystems rates number one in TOP-100 rating of broadband access operators by J'son and Partners Consulting in terms of the number of connected households in Russia for 2008.

COMSTAR-UTS also leads TOP-70 list in terms of the number of active connected households in Moscow.

According to COMSTAR-UTS’ consolidated report based on US GAAP standards, by the end of 2008, the number of individual subscribers in Moscow had made 784,000 and in regions it had reached 73,000. By the end of last year, broadband subscriber base of STREAM-TV (member of COMSTAR-UTS) had amounted to 205,000.

“Ratings by results of 2008: Telecom of Russia in figures” by J’son and Partners Consulting provides a comprehensive view of players’ market share and development of telecom services in all regions of the Russian Federation. In this market review the second section of the rating is devoted to fixed-line telephony and broadband access. The rating of Russian federal districts as per broadband penetration is topped by North-Western and Central federal districts, where penetration level makes 33.7% and 31.9% respectively.
