OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2009. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is preparing to launch two new projects in Azerbaijan at once.

One of the project-makers Anastasiya Maryina says that among the IFC short-term plans in respect to Azerbaijan is beginning of projects of Financial Infrastructure and Anti-Crisis Programme.

“Both projects are now at stage of development and consideration. In addition, negotiations with potential donors are underway. We expect an answer from them closer to June of the year and then projects can start formally already in July,” Maryina said.

He added that period of Financial Infrastructure Project is three years with its possible extension by two years. The project was estimated at USD 2.4 million.

“Along with that Anti-Crisis Programme will be regional and will cover four countries as follows: Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Challenges within this programme will be common, but plans of work will differ depending on a country,” she said.

Nailya Safarova, representative of the Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Co-operation (SECO), says that SECO is now one of the potential donors of Financial Infrastructure Project.

“We received IFC proposals two weeks ago. Now they are under consideration in the SECO Headquarters. In our turn, we have positive position to this project,” Safarova said.

Both projects can start already this year.
