OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2009. The ecological management systems of the Central Office of Energoatom Concern and its branches, Volgodonsk and Smolensk NPPs, comply with national standard GOST R ISO 14001–2007.

The preliminary certification audit conducted by DQS (Germany) Apr 20–24 2009 has shown that the ecological management systems of the Central Office of Energoatom Concern and its branches, Volgodonsk and Smolensk NPPs, comply with national standard GOST R ISO 14001–2007.

The audit was preceded by thorough preliminary work. The ecological management structures and the nuclear power plants prepared the system for certification under the supervision of the Department for Radiation Safety, Environment Protection and Control of Nuclear Materials.

The parties approved a new ecological policy of the Concern; drafted and adopted program documents — “Ecological Policy of a Nuclear Power Plant,” a document specifying the obligations of the Russian nuclear power plants in the field of environment protection, standards (internal ecological management audit procedure), lists of target and planned ecological indicators, plan of actions of the Concern in the field of environment protection; and revised existing technical documentation. In 2008–2009 the Concern trained internal ecological management auditors.

Energoatom Concern has successfully passed the preliminary certification audit. The experts have confirmed that the ecological management systems of the Central Office of the Concern and Volgodonsk and Smolensk NPPs are ready for GOST R ISO 14001–2007 certification.
