OREANDA-NEWS. May 7, 2009. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the commissioning of the 1st unit of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant, a group of employees of the plant has been granted corporate awards and certificates of honor for their significant contribution to the development of the national nuclear industry.

Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko has decreed to award the following employees:

Deputy Director for Economy and Finance Timofey Kositsky and Head of the Administrative-Economic Department Vladimir Urbanovich have been granted “Academician Kurchatov” badge, 3rd class;

Deputy Chief Engineer for Operation of the 1st and 2nd Units  Viktor Sushko — “Academician Kurchatov” badge, 4th class.

Deputy Chief Engineer for Operation Grigory Aleshin, Deputy Head of the Department of Radiation Safety of the 1st and 2nd Units Viktor Korkin, Senior Engineer of the Safety Control Department Vladimir Lebedev and Head of the Security Service Valery Tsvetkov have been granted certificates of honor.

Kalinin NPP is situated in the north of Tver region: 125 km away from Tver, 330 km from Moscow, 400 km from St.Petersburg, on the southern shore of Lake Udomlia. The total area of the plant is 287.37 h. The plant has three WWER-1000 reactors (1000 MW each). Kalinin NPP is part of the United Energy System of Central Russia. Its electricity is transmitted to eight regions via two 330KV and four 750KV lines. The 4th unit is under construction and is to be launched in 2011.
