OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2009. The Gomel-based company Rumyantsevskoye has set up a joint venture to promote dairy products in Ukraine, First Deputy Director General of the state corporation Gomelmyasomolprom Gennady Romanenko told a press conference on May 12.

Rumyantsevskoye owns 51% of the shares in the Belarusian-Ukrainian company set up in the town of Chernyakhovsky, Zhitomir oblast. According to Gennady Romanenko, the registration of the joint venture in Zhitomir is close to completion. Gomelmyasomolprom is the Belarusian co-founder.

Since October 2008 Gomel dairy companies have shifted their priorities from the Russian Federation to Ukraine. Gomelmyasomolprom has worked out and is following a strategy designed to explore the Ukrainian market. Negotiations about supplies of dairy products from Gomel are in progress with businessmen from Lutsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov. Markets of Kyiv, Lugansk, and Donetsk are considered promising.

Butter makes up the bulk of the export supplies. In Q1 2009 export to Ukraine accounted for 67% of Gomelmyasomolprom’s butter output. The export of whole milk and tinned milk is on the rise.

Gennady Romanenko said, there are plans to actively promote three product line-ups in Ukraine: traditional dairy products, baby food, milk products with health-improving effects.
