OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 May 2009 was announced, that according to a report by consulting company J’son & Partners entitled ”2008 Ratings: Russian Telecom in Figures”, Volga Telecom ranks third in the Top 100 broadband operators for the number of household subscribers in Russia in 2008.

Volga Telecom provides broadband Internet access services in 11 regions of the Volga Federal District under the J brand (for households), which was launched on the market in May 2006.  Over nearly the past three years the subscriber base of Volga Telecom has increased by more than 25 times, and at the end of 2008 stood at 785,000 users (including 693,000 users in the household segment).  Despite fierce competition, the company has managed to maintain its leadership position among providers of the Volga Federal District with a market share exceeding 70% (in terms of revenue) in its coverage area.

The main areas in the rollout of VolgaTelecom’s broadband Internet expansion include raising the technical quality of service parameters, as well as the customer sales and care system.  The company has introduced a monitoring system which makes it possible to check service and the technical condition of Internet access services provided.  Based on monthly monitoring results, measures are being worked out to help raise the quality of broadband Internet service.  In addition, in March 2009, three branches of VolgaTelecom (Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Penza) received quality compliance certificates for “Provision of access to datacom networks using  xDSL technology from the Service Certification Center.

“Taking into account the projected requirements of the market, the company intends to roll out high-speed Internet access networks using FTTB+Ethernet technology”, says the commercial director of VolgaTelecom, Oleg Ershov. “ In addition, as part of our drive to roll out broadband Internet infrastructure, we will be offering IP telephony solutions and plan to expand the range of content services, and implement FMS (fraud management system) solutions”, he said.
