OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2009. Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation is ready to start building Seversk Nuclear Power Plant as soon as the Ministry of Energy of Russia adopts a relevant decision, Head of the Department for Contacts with Organizations and Regions, Secretary of the Public Council of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Igor Konyshev said during a press-conference in Tomsk on May 20 2009.

“Rosatom is ready to start the construction as soon as it is possible in terms of economy. As of now the authorities of Tomsk region and Rosatom have done all they were supposed to do for obtaining the license,” Konyshev said.

The financing of this and other nuclear projects depends on the decisions of the Ministry of Energy and the Government. “I hope that the Government will consider all of our proposals when drafting the budget of the next year,” Konyshev said.

The budget 2010 will show exactly which of the projects will be financed next year.

Vice Governor of Tomsk region Sergey Tochilin said that the design work done so far is sufficient for starting the construction as early as 2010.

“If we manage to prove the necessity and the sufficiency of these materials we have such a chance,” Tochilin said.
