OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2009. Moldova is interested in assembling Gomselmash agricultural machines in the country, the press service of the Moldovan government quoted Acting Prime Minister of Moldova Zinaida Grecianii as saying at a meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky. The meeting took place in Astana as part of the summit of the CIS heads of government.

The heads of government of Belarus and Moldova expressed interest in further development of the bilateral economic relations, which potential is not fully used.

The sides mentioned such priority areas of Belarusian-Moldovan cooperation as information technologies, investments, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agribusiness. In particular, the sides discussed cooperation in winemaking, prospects of manufacturing compact agricultural machines together and the problem of export of Moldovan agricultural products to Belarus.

Zinaida Grecianii underscored the importance of implementing all the decisions made at the 11th session of the Belarusian-Moldovan intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation and the importance of holding the next joint session involving business circles.

She remarked that Belarus ranks fifth in export and eighth in import among Moldova’s trade partners.

In turn, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky appreciated measures taken by the Moldovan leadership in order to peacefully resolve the political situation in the country.
