OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2009. Turkmen grain-growers started the crops harvesting campaign. Grain-growers of Mary Velayat were the first to start the 2009 harvesting campaign. Agricultural workers of the Lebap and Ahal Velayats and other regions of the country will join them. This season they are planning to gather 1.6 billion tones of wheat on 900,000-hectare plantations.

Grain-growers of Mary Velayat are planning to harvest 380,000 tones on 215,000-hectare area. All necessary conditions were created to achieve the goals of the agricultural campaign. 446 combine harvesters and over 1,000 trucks will deliver this year’s harvest to 41 receiving points which will work round-the-clock.

According to Turkmenobahyzmat Association, over 1,830 combine harvesters including Case and John Deer high-powered machines and 6,600 trucks are engaged in this year’s harvesting campaign. All necessary conditions including proper maintenance were created to ensure the effective work of machine-operators, who work twenty four hours in shifts.

Turkmengallaonumlery Association will settle accounts with grain-growers at the local branches of Daykhanbank. 23 grain elevators and 15 flour mills supplied with grain-cleaning equipment, weighing machines and other special equipment are ready for the mowing season.

Wheat will be delivered to 147 receiving points with the laboratories where Turkmenstandartlary specialists will test the quality of grain. According to Turkmenstandartlary State Service the laboratories, which work twenty four hours, are supplied with up-to-date equipment produced by the leading manufacturers.

To mark the beginning of the harvesting campaign Tyaze Yol farmers association arranged the festivities that brought together the high-ranking officials of the velayat and etrap khyakimliks, the subdivisions of Turkmengallaonumlery Association and Turkmenobahyzmat Association, agricultural specialists and grain-growers. By the end of the day the first tons of golden ak bugday were delivered to a local receiving point.
