OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2009. In Jan-May 2009 the nuclear power plants of Energoatom Concern OJSC generated 64.746bln KWh (94.7% of the output of Jan-May 2008) thereby meeting all of its obligations to their consumers.

The nuclear power plants with WWER reactors produced 34.443bln KWh, the NPPs with RBMK, BN and EGP reactors – 30.303bln KWh.

The capacity factor was 77%.

In Jan-May 2009 the Russian NPPs operated safely and efficiently with no INES events registered just like in 2008.

The 10 nuclear power plants of Russia operate 31 reactors with a total capacity of 23,242MW: 15 WWER reactors (9 WWER-1000, 6 WWER-440), 15 RBMK reactors (11 RBMK-1000 and 4 EGP-6), 1 fast-breeder reactor. The Russian NPPs produce 16% of total energy in Russia.
