OREANDA-NEWS  On 11 June was announced, that Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip met with the Prime Minister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt, with whom the issues of the European Union and the economy were primarily discussed.

Ansip noted that in previous years Estonia had managed to collect remarkable reserves, which amounted to 10% of GDP, and also paid back the state loan. “Compared to other countries, Estonia was well prepared for the crisis,” he stressed. Ansip stated that Estonia aims to continue with the conservative budget policy. “We have aimed to keep the budget deficit below 3 per cent of GDP”.

The European Council to be held on 18-19 June was also discussed with Prime Minister Reinfeldt, as well as the issues related to the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty and the elections to the European Parliament that were just been held.

Sweden will hold the Presidency of the European Union in the second half of the current year. During the one-day official visit of the Prime Minister, the priorities of the Swedish Presidency were mainly discussed.
